Year 10 Offshore
EQI Year 10 Offshore is for students not living in Australia who would like to complete the Queensland Year 10 curriculum in their home country.
Students completing Year 10 Offshore are taught in English by Australian teachers. This helps them improve their English proficiency and acquire the necessary skills to achieve academic success in the Queensland curriculum. This makes Year 10 Offshore popular for students who are considering coming to Queensland to study Year 11 and 12 as an international student.
Quality control
Students completing Year 10 Offshore receive quality-controlled, EQI-approved education. EQI monitors the Year 10 Offshore teaching centres, sets the assessment benchmarks and provides all study criteria and materials. The students graduate with a Year 10 Certificate from EQI.EQI provides the Year 10 Offshore teaching centres:

- Assessment materials
- Australian teachers
EQI also provides consultancy to Year 10 Offshore teaching centres on an ongoing basis to ensure quality in all areas of the program
Entry Criteria and Curriculum
Entry Criteria
To be accepted into the Year 10 Offshore program, students must demonstrate:- Above average academic performance across a range of subjects at Year 9 level
- Good English language skills
Each student’s English language proficiency will be tested by EQI as part of the application process.
Curriculum
Students completing Year 10 Offshore are assessed according to their academic performance in four key subjects:- Mathematics
- Science
- English
- Study of Society & Environment
In addition to studying the four key subjects, students must also:
- Demonstrate an acceptable breadth of English vocabulary for the four key subjects
- Participate in and contribute to the dynamic classroom learning environment
- Display independent learning and creative problem solving
- Communicate effectively in conversation and in reading, writing and speaking exams
- Developed critical literacy skills in preparation for studying Year 11 and 12 in a Queensland high school
Teacher Qualifications
Students completing Year 10 Offshore are taught by registered Queensland and/or Australian Secondary School teachers. These teachers are experienced in teaching the Queensland curriculum, and they are skilled in interpreting and assessing students’ competency levels across this curriculum.
The students who are completing Year 10 Offshore are supported by local teachers during the early stages of the program. This helps the students understand the academic content of the curriculum while their English proficiency is improving.
