High School (Graduate Program)

High school

The High School Graduate program is for students from Year 8 to Year 12 who want to come to Queensland to complete their high school education.

Students study the Queensland curriculum, and those who graduate from Years 11 and 12 receive the Queensland Certificate of Education, awarded by the QSA. This is an internationally recognised qualification, which means EQI High School's are an effective pathway for international students who are seeking to continue on to tertiary education in Queensland.

EQI High Schools

Government High Schools (which support) eligible to enrol international students in Queensland are called EQI High Schools. There are over 50 EQI High Schools in Queensland - find out more about them all!

Entry Criteria

To be accepted into an EQI High School, students must demonstrate:

In selected cases, students with limited English proficiency may be offered the opportunity to complete High School Preparation (HSP) prior to commencing enrolment in an EQI High School. This intensive English language program is designed to facilitate English vocabulary and conversation proficiency to the appropriate level for a high school student in Australia.

Accommodation

International students who are aged 14 years or older may enter a Homestay accommodation arrangement.

EQI High School students who are under 14 years old must reside with a close family relative, as defined by Division 1.2 of Migration Regulations External Link. These regulations define a close family relative as:

EQI will closely monitor the residency status of the close family relative to ensure the best possible care and support of international students who are under 14 years old.

Student Visas

All international must hold a valid student visa for the duration of their studies.

All students participating in an EQI Program must read and abide by the International Students Travel/Activities Policy. All EQI students must also submit a Travel Consent Form before embarking on any local, interstate or national travel during their EQI program.
