Primary School (Years P-6) – CRICOS Course Code: 082519A

The EQI Primary School Program is for students who want to come to Queensland
to study in Prep to Year 6.

Students participate in the Queensland primary school curriculum, which is taught
by world-class teachers in small classroom groups.  EQI primary schools encourage a global perspective and promote a safe and friendly learning environment for all students. EQI primary school students who are from a non-English speaking background also receive quality English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) support, delivered by specialist EAL/D teachers.

This EAL/D support is provided to develop the student’s English language ability to allow them to fully participate in primary classes.

General information about the EQI primary school program can be found
in the EQI Primary School Program (PDF, 2.6 MB) brochure.

Entry Criteria

Students in Prep to Year 6 can enter the EQI Primary School program based
on the following conditions:

  • The minimum program period is six months in duration
  • Students in Prep to Year 5 may commence at the beginning of any school term
  • Students in Year 6 may commence at the beginning of Term 1 or 2 only

EQI primary school students must reside with a parent or close family relative,
as defined by Division 1.2 of Migration Regulations. These regulations define a close family relative as:

  • A parent or step-parent
  • An aunt or an uncle
  • A grandparent or step-grandparent

EQI will closely monitor the residency status of the close family relative to ensure continuous care and support of the student.

Guidance Officer and International Student Coordinator

Every EQI primary school has a dedicated guidance officer and international student coordinator. These support staff are trained to provide advice about study options and student matters including extra-curricular activities, health and personal matters.

It is the international student coordinator's number one priority to ensure that
EQI primary school students experience quality outcomes from their EQI Primary
School program.
